A senior knight carrying a small reliquary tied to his sword belt. Besides the Papal banner several relics were taken by William for the invasion of England, to both bolster the moral of the army and to remind his soldiers that Harold had sown an oath upon sacred relics to William and broken it. This small reliquary contains a fragment of the cross and as such is a powerful symbol to the knight carrying it as well as the knights he commands.
