If your interested in membership, then please email the
Society , but please read the following notes first.
- To take part in the combat you must be 18 or older. Sorry, but that is an absolute condition of our insurance company
and is not negotiable. If under 18, at the discretion of the Executive
Committee, you can train and take part in drill displays, work as part
of the crew of the siege engine or be a standard bearer on the battle
field or participate in any non-combat activity.
- Before a person can take part in a battle or combat display they
will have to receive safety training and successfully pass a safety
assessment.
- All people under the age of 18 must attend events either with
a parent, or with a legal guardian. A member of the society can
act as a guardian, if they are willing, but no unescorted juveniles are
allowed on the camp site.
- If you have any serious medical condition you must inform the society prior to joining.
This will not affect your membership application, but we need to know in case your
suddenly taken ill at an event so we can best assist you. (Example
illnesses are: anaphylactic shock reaction to insect stings/bites or
food allergies, asthma, haemophilia, hepatitis B, allergic reaction to
latex, angina etc) Please be aware that many castles/sites that we
visit are in remote locations and ambulances may take a significant
amount of time to arrive. If in doubt, let us know so we can best
advise you on precautions and site facilities in advance.
- All new members join on a provisional basis for their first year, or
longer, and must attend more
than one major event during their first year. After the year is completed the persons membership will
usually be upgraded to a full membership, however this is at the sole discretion of
the Executive Committee.
- We can supply clothing, arms and armour to new members, however you
are expected to own a full set of basic clothing and equipment at the end of your
first year of membership.
- Conquest broadly re-enact the period 1066 - 1260, though we specifically
cover three time
lines within that period. We all portray ordinary Anglo-Norman
folk of that period, men at arms, sergeants, knights, cooks, wives,
fletchers, blacksmiths, wood turners etc who would have been part of a
castle garrison.
- No one can join the society until they have actually come to an event and spent a
weekend with us as our guest. You don't have to take part in anything, but it will give you a
clear picture of what re-enactment is about and what we do and what your
getting into.
The only real requirements
for joining are enthusiasm and time, the rest we can teach you, or show you where to buy! |
