On the 12th - 13th October 2002 Conquest and the Vikings again staged a re-enactment of the Battle of Hastings on behalf of English Heritage on the original battle site.   This was a 'mini Hastings event' on a reduced scale when compared to the 2000 event!  The next major battle re-enactment is due to be staged in 2006.

Due to severe weather warnings fewer re-enactors were able to attend the event than had originally planned from Conquest, but we still managed to get 93 knights, soldiers and archers onto the field for the battle, unfortunately a number were forced to turn back at various points in the country because of the foul weather and flooding.
There was close to 260 foot soldiers and eight mounted knights on the field for the main battle and a few thousand public braved the atrocious weather to watch the battle.  Saturday we were fortunate as the weather cleared just before the battle after some major downpours and we managed to put on a good event for everyone who had come to watch.  However, Sunday only offered us the traditional English weather for October, but this did little to dampen the spirits of all taking part in the event!

Guests of Conquest at the event were contingents of Norman knights from Italy, The United States of America, The Czech Republic, Denmark and France who all share our passion for this period.
